The Majors Dodgers get off to a hot start
Nate Gasca has been pitching lights out for the dodgers. In his first outing of the season, he took a two hitter into the sixth inning. Max Mihai had 2 RBIs and the rest of the team did what they had to do to secure a 8-2 victory.
The second game of the season was a hard fought battle and Robbie Romer (shown here) crushed a timely double to the opposite field. Unfortunately, their comeback fell short as they took their first L for the season. We are optimistic about this Majors team as they are showing great promise!
AAA Angels 6, AAA Red Sox 5
The AAA Red Sox squared off against the AAA Angels in an epic opening day matchup that ended with the Angels walking it off in extra innings for the 6-5 win.
Luke Riddle produced the game winning RBI, driving in Aiden Sipkovich for the win. Maddox Fitzpatrick started for the Angels, pitching 4 innings with 5 Ks, while Henry Stevens closed out the game with 3 innings and 7 Ks of his own. Stevens also had a 2 RBI double. Nico Stavros (pictured) paced the team with 2 hits and scored 2 runs.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox were anchored by great pitching from James Pitt and Wyatt Cobb, who combined for 5 strikeouts, giving up only 3 runs over 4 innings. Leo Gonzalez and Alex Tsujiuchi also pitched well for the Red Sox, with Tsujiuchi stepping in to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 6th. Red Sox defense was solid all-round, led by Pitt’s miraculous 4th-inning grab in center field. Landon Chen led the Red Sox offense with 2 hits and an RBI, while Cobb, Pitt, Gonzalez, and Darren Chen all added hits. Anthony Kamae received the Red Sox game ball for his toughness and great attitude.
AAA Dodgers 11, LF Bombers 1
Xavier LaSala opened the season with a near perfect three innings to get the the Dodgers started. The Dodgers offense relied on fantastic hitting performances form Daniel Macmillan, who had three hits, and Jackson Fliegler, whose opposite field bomb bounced to the fence. Adam Mandel laid down one of the smoothest drag bunts you will see by any ten year old, and Cohen Sanchez made a miraculous throw from center to nail a runner at third. All and all, it was a great opening team win with contributions from all.
